 |
Stay
in view of a burning candle. |
 |
Keep
away from children and pets. |
 |
Trim
the wick to ¼ inch in length before lighting and relighting a candle. |
 |
Always
place pillar candles on an appropriate holder, and on a noncombustible, heat
resistant surface. |
 |
Be
careful not to place a burning candle near anything that can catch on fire such
as curtains, dried materials and baskets. |
 |
Remove
wick trimmings and other foreign material from the wax pool after the flame is
extinguished. Tweezers works well for this. |
 |
Candles
should be burned for 2 to 3 hours at a time. |
 |
Keep
the wick centered and be sure it is not close to the edge of the container. |
 |
Candles
should be kept out of drafts to prevent uneven burning and reduce dripping. |
 |
Candles
exposed to sunlight may fade. |
 |
Do
not move a burning candle. |
 |
Colored
and fragranced candles can damage furnishings; therefore, protect surfaces. |
 |
Discontinue
burning a candle when ½ inch of wax remains of a pillar or container candle. |
 |
Always
remove any packaging or labels from candles before lighting. |
 |
Use
a snuffer to safely extinguish candles. |
 |
Wax
adhesives and candle sharpeners will ensure a perfect fit for any candle in any
holder. |
 |
If
you burn more than one candle at the same time, make sure that there is a
distance of at least 4 inches between them to prevent candles from melting. |
 |
For
safety reasons, keep candles upright. This will ensure the candle burns cleanly
and reduces dripping. |
 |
Never
take a tealight out of its metal container. |
 |
Do
not leave uncovered candles outdoors overnight as excess moisture may cause hot
wax to splatter. |
 |
Store
candles in a cool, dry place away from light to prevent fading. |
Especially for Votives: |
 |
Never burn a
freestanding votive. Votive candles are designed to liquefy as they burn and
must always be used in an appropriate sized container. |
 |
Keep votive
wicks centered and trimmed to ¼" while burning to prevent breaking the
glass holder. |
 |
Always remove
metal tabs or clips from the bottom of the container before adding another
candle. |
 |
Keep the pool
of wax free of any foreign material that will cause a fire hazard. |
 |
Always place
the votive holder on a heat resistant surface to protect the surface of your
furniture. |
 |
Make sure to
extinguish the votive when the wax level gets down to the last ¼" in the
container. |
